Passenger Reservation System (IP-PRS)


A memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Department of Posts and Ministry of Railways to issue computerized railway reservation tickets to the public for reservation and cancellation of railway tickets through 20 identified Head and Sub Post offices in Tamilnadu Circle.

India Post will realize service charges from Passengers in lieu of tickets. The extent of service charges to be levied for different type of tickets and for different type of locations will be decided jointly by MOR and India Post from time to time. The per ticket service charges fixed in 2007 are as under:


a) II Class Sleeper and II Class Sitting (2S) – Rs.15/- per ticket (incl. of GST)

b) III AC & AC Chair Car – Rs.20/- per ticket (incl. of GST)

c) II AC, I AC & First Class – Rs.30/- per ticket (incl. of GST)

d) Cancellation charges for all classes – Rs.10/- per ticket (incl. of GST)

AADHAAR ENROLMENT CUM UPDATION SERVICES IN POST OFFICES


Aadhaar Enrolment cum updation services through Post offices are Operational in Tamilnadu Circle with effect from July 2017 and available in 1373 identified Post offices.

In order to extend Passport Services to Citizens on a larger scale and to ensure wider area coverage, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Post (DoP) on mutual agreement commenced Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) from 2017. Till now 30 POPSKs are operational in Tamilnadu Circle.

Create user id with www.passportindia.gov.in website.

Make online payment of Rs.1500/- for Adults

Schedule your appointment for POPSK name ( as listed above)

Bring the address proof, date of birth of proof and educational qualification proof on the date of your appointment

Post Office Identity Cards ( POID Cards)


Post office Identity Cards (POID cards) are issued by DoP as per clause 63 of PO Guide Part I, with value addition as a Retail Product of India Post


  1. Application for POID is available in all Post Offices and costs . Rs.20/- . It can also be downloaded from the India Post website.
  2. Application tendered with processed fee of Rs.250/- will be verified through Postman or other officials and recommend for issue.
  3. The POID card will be issued within 15 days from the date of receipt of the application form at the HO.
  4. The validity of the card will be three years from the date of issue.
